Our History

Berean Baptist Church was formed with four couples who desired to see a G.A.R.B.C. church in the Leesburg area. They first met in a home in 1987. As the church grew in attendance, they began worshiping in the City Hall in Tavares, FL. Their first business meeting was held on October 11, 1987 after having various speakers fill the pulpit. By November 22, 1987, Berean Baptist Church had eighteen charter members. The church family eventually moved to the Senior Citizens Center in Leesburg on November 15, 1988 and worshiped there until their move to 1601 W. Main Street in 1989. In 2008 the Main Street campus was sold and another move was made to the current location (5640 CR 48, Okahumpka) just south of Leesburg. With the help of Continental Baptist Mission builders from Grand Rapids, MI, Berean Baptist Church now enjoys a brand new facility, built to the glory of God.

Our Purpose

We exist to promote spiritual growth, to encourage an attitude of gratitude, and to embrace a biblical perspective of God in our lives. We achieve this with a vigilant focus on Christ alone – not by conforming to this world, but by the renewing of our minds (Rom 12.2). We strive to become all things to all people so that we might be used as instruments of God to bring others to Him.

Our Passion

Our passion is to glorify the Father by treasuring the Son in the power of the Holy Spirit. We are committed to the teaching and preaching of God’s Word, vibrant and meaningful worship, a zeal for missions, and an abiding love for one another. Therefore, we seek to:

  • Treasure Christ together through worship
  • Treasure Christ through family
  • Treasure Christ through serving others
